This last week, our group left for Venice for our Gems of Northern Italy cruise on Uniworlds River Countess.
Actually, most of the group left two days earlier for their Milan pre-cruise package.
On Monday we transferred to the Port of Miami, where we boarded the beautiful Norwegian Sky.
I used to go on this ship all the time, but its been 12 years since Ive been aboard.
Yesterday, 80 Travel With Alan group members flew in and spent the night at the Embassy Suites Hotel.
Today they boarded Holland America Lines ms Rotterdam for their 37-day Voyage of the Vikings cruise across the North Atlantic and back.
Even though bad weather was predicted, we have had some very nice, sunny weather.
We had two days in Fort Lauderdale, staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel. The next day, most of our group had a tour of Flamingo Gardens and some free time at Las Olas, Fort Lauderedales old Downtown.
I have to say, the ship looks greatlike a brand-new ship. We had all day yesterday, overnight, and all day today in Havana.
Ive already run into two crew members that I knew from this and other NCL ships all those years ago. She has an extra friendly crew and the food and service are excellent. I spent the day visiting some of the hotels that we use for our land tours, to check them out for myself.
Having the overnight in the city gave people the chance to visit some of the nightclubs, like the Tropicana and the Buena Vista Social Club, for some fantastic Cuban food, drink, and music.
I just wandered in the Plaza Vieja, which was walking distance from the ship, and walked along, hearing the music pouring out many of the restaurants and bars. I would say that all 246 people in our group are very happy!
Yes, it s been a busy time here at Travel With Alan! I have to say that the cruise ship was a fantastic way to see Havana.
